SATURDAY 14TH JANUARY
After much talk and meetings about the challenge and copious amount of money spent on the right 'gear', today was our first 'training session' and what a morning for a walk! Awoke to a very 'fresh' morning in the Welsh valleys. A lovely early start was called for so we met at The Wern Park in Nelson for a gentle 6 mile walk. The 4 of us were accompanied by Byron's wife Nicola, who has kindly agreed to be part of our support team. We will rely heavily on our support so we thank Nicola for agreeing to this. Our other support-team member (Dai Bevans) is yet to be convinced to join us on our walks. Watch this space to see if we can get him into his shell-suit and enjoying a bit of fresh air!
Also with us this morning was Bec's bear-dog, Zuffa. For a dog who is the size of a small car, he is about as fierce as a choc-ice!
We really enjoyed the walk this morning even though we had to listen to Eddie telling us about the history of Nelson every 5 mins!
Quote of the day has to go to Byron who said he got blisters from playing darts!! This does not bode well for walking 100km if he gets blisters on his feet from walking to the Oche and back!
Anyway, we all enjoyed the little stroll and think 10 times the distance will be easy!!!
